Front passenger window is off track

Hi all,

On a frigid day last winter I was trying to lower my front passenger window. Although the window was frozen in the closed position, I tried to open it by pushing the window button down and up numerous times in quick succession. After about 5 mins, the track which holds the glass, popped off the bottom of the glass. The regulator still works fine, but I syspected the glass is no longer seated on the rail which holds and moves the glass. Yesterday I removed the door panel and sound/water shield and my suspicions were confirmed.

I tried to push (force) the glass into the rail, but the rubber cushion that protects the glass from the metal of the rail wouldn't allow the glass to seat deep enough into the groove of the rail.

Any thoughts on how I can properly seat the glass and rubber into the rail?

Thanks in advance!

Might have to drill out the rivets that hold the rail in place, then reposition the glass in the rail and rivet back in place.

Not sure if rivets

Thanks Paul. Not sure if there are rivets, but will check.

Any other thoughts?

Fixed it! MB dealer wanted $500 to fix, but lubricating the rubber seal with WD40 allowed the window to seat deep into the groove (with some elbow grease). The only unwanted result was that since I had to disconnect the side airbag, the SRS light on the dash stays on after reconnecting. Wondering how much MB wants to reset it?
