no warm up good?
We have a 99 ML430 and my mom sometimes doesn't let it "warm" up at all..meaning she starts it and drives off within 10 seconds. She doesn't wait for the fast idle to drop below 500 RPM's and just goes. Is there any long term damage to the engine in the future? She doesn't listen to my dad or I when we tell her to wait for the needle to drop and then go...arg.

most repair shops i go to, they say just let it warm up for no more than a minute, and it shouldn't be a problem.
Since the MB cars now only use synthetic oils, it shouldnt cause too much harm when you don't warm it up.

it should not harm the engine
unless you will hummer the pedal to the metal as soon as you start it. Just run in a moderate speed for a few miles and you will see your temp gauge rises up at no time. also I agree on MB uses synthetic oil so that also help.

the problem is not the engine but the tranny. Usually, a 30seconds warm up is all that's needed. Fortunately, the tranny electronics will not allow any upshift until the tranny temp reaches a set value. I don't like it when my wife does it either, but I won't worry too much about it as long as it's not floored.
