Exclamation Cleared 4 of 7 codes. Trying to solve 161/141/170

I inherited from my wife a '98 ML320 with about 206K. Trying to pass emissions as we just moved to California. Bottom line, I had 7 codes:

P0460
P0170
P0141
P0156
P0450
P0400
P0161

..Cleaned the EGR tube which wasn't that bad. Replaced the Bank 1 Sensor 2 (Passenger Side After Cat) ) O2 Sensor with Bosch Part 13782. Plug-in not splice. Cleared codes and drove 50mi.

I now have these codes remaining:

P161
P141
P170

Any advice on what to look at? I'm a total newby when it comes to this model. I thought P141 would go away after replacing the 02 sensor. I have read the depending on what ME you have (2.0 vs 2.8) that sensor may not be correct. Now I don't know much about the vic history, I believe my wife's dad got it at auction circa 2006 or so. Is there a way to verify ME? I've also checked the fuse in the PDC and it's good. Is there another spot to look at for breaks in the circuit?

Thanks for the help up front.

Your ECM version for MY1998 is ME2.0.

To understand your problem, read (1) the diagnostic manual and (2) the article on page 4 of StarTuned magazine Dec-2012. There is a typo on page 11/34 of the former - P0155 refers to Left bank O2S 1 (not "O2S 2", which appears to be one you need to replace).

The most common cause of both your P0170 and P0141 codes is an air intake leak on the right bank (cylinders 1 to 3). Some people spray brake cleaner around their valve cover gaskets to test this, if they don't have a smoke machine.

Welcome to the forum.
