98 ml320 Engine ECM
I believe this is the same as the ME module, but not sure. Can I just install a used one from another ML320 with the same part number or is programming required? Thanks for any help provided.

You are right - the terms ME, ECM and ECU are all synonymous for the ME-SFI module.
One from another ML won't work in yours due to security features. Each one is specifically coded to a particular VIN.
