Turn signals flashing too fast?

Hi all

So when I signal to turn left or right, the turn signals flash at double speed. Experience tells me this is a blown lightbulb, but all the lights are working fine. When I turn on the hazard flashers, the flash speed is normal.

Any ideas or clues please? It's not a problem, it just feels... wrong...?

PS, some googling seems to implicate the trailer hitch wiring. Is there any way to fix this? My understanding is that it's a factory-fitted hitch...
