move the left foot rest?

Hi All,

I've just 'adopted' my stepmum's old ML in favour of my punto (quite an upgrade huh?) anyway, all is mostly well and good except a few minor niggles, but the main thing is the left foot rest.

I am very tall and it would be nice to be able to stretch my leg some more, especially on longer journeys. So does anybody know what is behind the left foot rest, and what options there may be moving it further back?

Looking forward to any ideas,

Cheers

Lawrence

Hi Lawrence,
You don't state where you are located and if you have a Right hand drive or Left hand drive ML. It makes a big difference.

PLEASE update your UserCP to additionally include your ML's model Year and your Location.

Thanks,
Mike

ah right,

well basically you can 'unsnap' / prise out the panel your foot actual rests on in the middle of the assembly,it's not actually fixed in, just slotted into place.

then there are three nutss that hold the whole plastic lot in place on three bolts from underneath. simply undo the nuts and the whole thing will just lift off. the bolt fixings used are below the carpet line so you could just leave it at that if you wanted.

I've ordered a aluminium footrest as a cover which I will just countersink into the carpet with nice long screws. It's won't be the work of brunel but it's not going to experience any massive stress or strain so should be fine

hope that helps
