OK guys I'm new to the Mercedes world. I bought a 2001 ml430 fully loaded. runs and drives great i upgraded the suspension stereo system rims and tires and really nice Remus exhaust system.. now here goes the problem that coast me 4 tickets. My rear tail lights wont work.. at all. brakes turn singles and stop lights all are fine but when i turn the switch on the console to tail and front lights.. the tail lights refuse to come one. now all i can remember doing is pressing the low range button and the esp button. Please help

Your problem probably is with the combination Switch on the steering column or the AAM.

It can't be a fuse or relay problem because the right and left tail light are operated by separate relays and fuses. But check them anyway.

See that relay K5, K9 and K13 are in place.

See that fuses #12 and #24 are in place and not blown.

If all the above are good, remove the plastic covers surrounding the steering column and access the electrical connector to the Combination Sw.

1. with the key in pos. #2 or the eng. running check the GREY wire in pos. #8 for 12v.

2. then turn the light switch on and check the GREEN wire in pos. #4 and the BLUE wire in pos. 6 for 12v. If these two wires do not show 12 volts, then you need a new Combination Sw.
