New Battery new problems

A folks
My 2001 ML320 was dead at my daughters school a few days ago. My daughter called my wife and she jumped the truck to get it to Advance auto to get a new battery. When i got home i noticed the CD changer isnt working now and cruise control either. I heard about a back up battery or something but not sure. Any help out there.

The 1998 - 2005 W163 ML's do not have a backup battery. The 2006+ W164 ML's have a small secondary battery, mostly for the electronic transmission shifter.

The W163 ML's are very sensitive when it comes to jump starting. I hope you didn't fry any of your electronics. Also remember to re-synchronize your sunroof, power windows, steering angle sensor and other things depending on what accessories you have. Check your Owners Manual.

A thanks Mike for the re-ply. My power windows and sunroof still work, will i need to re-synchronize anyway? Yeah i wasnt there my duaghter was using the truck and was stuck at school. Its odd my radio works fine just wont read the CD changer and everything else seems to operate but the cruise control. I recently changed the brake light switch maybe 2 months ago so i dont think its that. I will try to re-synch and see if that helps. Thanks.

re-synchronization is required every time the battery is disconnected. The sunroof, windows and steering (critical) will still work but may not operate properly. I highly recommend you read your manual to get the specific sync procedures for your year ML. If I remember correctly individual window re-sync is only needed for Auto Up/Down windows, Check your Manual.
No Manual, go here and get one;
