FYI 2013 ML350 4matic W166 *Tapping on startup*
Hi Gents,
Just an FYI the ML350 Petrol 4matic if you have a tapping noise on startup its the cam tensioners there was a fault on design and they issued a service note for anyone noticing the problem.
If your car has a tap after sitting for any long period i.e. few hours/overnight the oil reservoir leaks down completely near the cam tensioner and has a tapping metal on metal noise.
I recognized the problem and the merc service department installed a little rubber seal to stop the oil from leaking down as much.
