2000 ML320 with Skyview Roof
Out while looking for a 2002 ML320 I decided to stop in and look at a 2000 cause it was low miles 127,400.
Much to my surprise it had a Skyview Roof, I didn't know if I would ever see one, the problem is I pushed the button and it didn't work, no sound, nothing. What area should I look at first to kinda trouble shoot, would it be a major fix?
Thanks,

2000 ML320 2006 SLK 350
I have owned a 2000 ML30 with the sky view roof since day 1 (purchased it new back in 2000)....I love the sky view roof! It was awesome while it lasted. It lasted me 11 years...in 2011, it showed first signs of hesitating to retract. My mechanic simply asked me to close it shut and pull the fuse on it and forget it forever. He diagnosed it and said, the lifting plates had started to go out of alignment and it is a $4000 fix to fully dismantle and rebuild the roof. It would certainly give another 10 years of life...but its not worth fixing. By now, doubt if even parts would be available. If you find a ML with working sky view....just know, that the day it stops working, it is the end of life for it. I have been driving my ML with sky view no longer working for the last 10 years...it does not bother me. It was a great feature while it lasted...and I think, I got my money's worth if it lasted 11 years for me.

Hi, Don't even consider trying to fix the skyroof! The previous owner probably wisely removed the fuse in the engine bay fusebox (40amp, F4 or F15???). I have a 2000 ML320 with the lamella skyroof and it bust a few years ago and stuck open and it took my garage three and a half weeks to get shut again. It also leaked, left hand side footwell was fixable, but the right hand side still leaks unless I park 2" uphill...
However, it was enormous fun to have the open roof. If the car is cheap and runs well and is clean etc, then it would still be worth buying as they are awesome cars in their own right, and the skyroof de-values them. If you are rich you could have the skyroof replaced with a custom panoramic glass roof, or do what I am intending to do, which is to fix some solar panels onto the top to have a leisure battery in the car for camping.
The skyroof also always leaks badly into the footwells. If this car shows no signs of leaks, then by all means go ahead, but don't try getting the roof to open! The parts are no longer available, and when they were they were 6,500GBP PLUS 3,500GBP for fitting......
