charge indicator and BAS/ESP

2002 Ml320, while driving my charge indicator light came on, made all the way home then more lights came on, turn off the engine and tried to re-start but battery is low and it will not start. Next day went and started the engine, and the charge indicator and BAS/ESP light stayed on, turn the engine and then will not start anymore battery is dead, installed new battery, but the charge and BAS/ESP indicator stayed on, no problem re-starting the car for now since it has a new battery, need some info on what to do next, read some post about replacing the poly V belt or serpentine belt

Start the car. Turn the steering completely to left then right. Repeat 4-5 times. The light should extinguish

Your voltage regulator on the alternator could be toast. Most probably that's the reason the previous battery died
