ML god, did MB change the engine air filter?

ML god, did MB change the engine air filter?
I got an engine air filter from MB and its different than the old one it replaced. It is like split in 2 with one level that has a thinner piece of paper filter element. BTW does it matter which way you install it since the sections are not of equal size? Thanks!

Yes you have the new style. Look at the housing, the shorter side of the filter goes on the shorter side up the housing..

hmm, dont know which is the "shorter" side of the housing... The split is parallel with the front bumper, i thought the shorter side would be toward the passenger side. Can you tell me which way to put it? thanks!

off hand the shorter side goes to the rear...i will double check at
