theres a certain formula you need to do in calculating correct tire sizes...what it boils down to is the old tire size has to be within 3% of the original tire rolling diameter.
However, I don't think there is a tire out there with a 50 profile that falls within that 3% range. I may be wrong though...here's the formula, just in case:
to figure out the rolling diameter on your tire:
275x55 R17
275x.55=151.25 x 2=302.5 + (17x25.4) = 734.3mm
Now what you want to do is apply that formula (sustitute tire size #s) to any tire you are interested in and make sure the reults are within 3% of each other...otherwise the car will have to be recalibrated.
