00 ML320 blower delay/malfunction

Hello.

My AC/Heat blower (passenger footwell) takes up to 5 minutes to come on.

Now it also stays on after the car is shut off.

Once it starts operating we have full control over its speeds and temps and it works great.

Replaced the blower and blower resistor and did not help.

Thinking it is a computer problem at this point.

Help...

If it stays on after the car is off then it means you have a relay problem. Check K21 relay in underhood fusebox. Replace it with a similar one from the fusebox for diagnostic purposes, & see if the problem stopped.

Thanks Art.

That makes a lot of sense.

I thought I did a relay switch already with no change but I will try again.

Yes, that was it.

Was strange. With fan switch on tested 12v at the blower but would not run.

Seems the relay was passing 12v but at a very low amperage.

Traded relay and now it works great.

Thanks!

Well done!!! Glad you sorted it out.

PS Don't forget to replace & throw away the faulty relay, before something else malfunctions.
