I got an ML55 AMG built Dec 2000 factory fitted with COMMAND, Sat Nav (Radio ICU "Alpine" USA 522). I am based in London and have difficulty finding the UK map for my system. I have tried the latest DVD supplied by MB Dealer with no luck, I also tried the older CD map supplied by ALPINE for other Sat Nav System. Can anyone help by telling me if the Sat Nav supplied has a DVD or CD reader? and where I can get the right map disk for it?

The MCS Navigation you have uses the older CD map by Navtec. As far as I know it is for USA use only. Won't work outside the USA if it is the same factory fitted unit I have in my 2000 ML430.

Thanks for your help! would that mean the CD drive got to be updated to DVD drive or the complete head needs to be changed?

No.......... CD or DVD won't make any difference. Their both for USA only. CD uses ten CD's to cover the US & Canada, the DVD uses 1 DVD to cover the US & Canada. As far as I know only the Mercedes Command Navigation works in Europe. The Command unit is in all the other Mercedes models except the M-Class.
