ML270 Basket case

Hi Guys,
Firstly I would like to thank you all for the very helpful information that people have posted on this forum.
Thanks.

I recently bought a 2003 ML270 as a basket case. The main reason for buying it was so that we did not have to take our GL500 on our offroad trips anymore.
The GL500 is a great car offroad. We just don't like popping $400 tyres and putting lantana (its a spikey weed) scratches down the side.

The first issue we had with the ML270 was that it would do some weird things with the headlights and then the engine would not turn off until the headlights were turned off.
FIXED: Bought another ML270 with a punch in the nose for parts.
removed AAM and replaced including central locking part of the key fob.

Second issue was the Swirl flaps.
Fixed: Removed inlet manifold and removed flaps and tapped in 3/8bsp blanking plugs.

Third problem was the EGR.
Fixed: did the EGR shunt in the ECM.

Fourth problem: Engine miss at idle and slightly above.
Fixed: Replaced all 5 injectors out of the parts ML.

Fifth problem: Glow plug light came back on after starting engine.
Fixed: Removed Glow plug relay from inside fuse box and opened it up to find blown fusable link inside. Soldered 30amp fuse wire over broken link.
replaced all 5 glow plugs.

Sixth problem: Typical Trans electric plate issues.
Fixed: Replaced Electric plate, Plug, Filter and Fluid.

Seventh problem: Transmission 3/4 flare to a point that it would go into limp mode.
Fixed: Replaced valve body with the one out of the parts car.

All of this work has been done over the last month and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Front bumper was cracked so it has been removed and I have made a steel one.
We have wound up the tortion arms in the front suspension 20 turns and replaced the rear springs with some custom ones.
Front height from centre of wheel to guard is now 515mm and the rear height is now 530mm.
265/70 R17 Cooper Discoverer tyres also increase ground clearance.

We are taking it on the beach tomorrow for its first test run.
Mid June we are doing its first rally.

I will take some pics tomorrow and post them here

Totally off track, have a look on youtube for wifes 560SEL rally car at mrbenznut.
