Just got an ML320, what should I do now/things to consider?

Hi all, my mom just got a new car so she handed her 2001 ML320 down to me. I've been very acquainted with the car already, driving it when it was home and I needed it. But now since the car is my responsibility, I really want to get to the nitty gritty of what has to be checked and whatnot. Any ideas or things to look out for? Common problems? I'm already aware of the ESP problems that plague this generation. I ran a diagnostic test and my reader gave me C1142 for a Lateral Acceleration Sensor. It literally said "C1142 Lateral Acceleration Sensor or Signal". Aside from that, no other trouble codes at the moment, thankfully. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

What about the lateral acc. sensor code? Could it be possible that the ESP problem is only because of that?

Erase it & see if it comes back. If it does then think of replacing it.
