Need some help with axle problem
1998 ml32 202k. While rounding a cul de sac the drivers side axle nut and tip sheared off. Also the wheel bearing was destroyed. I replaced the bearing and axle and thought the bearing went bad and led to the axle shaft breaking at the nut. I just replaced the wheel bearing and axle and drove less than 60 miles and this time the wheel side cv joint gave out and blew apart causing the axle shaft to come loose. No damage to the wheel bearing or hub. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I'm wondering if the trans is somehow locking up and causing the shaft the stop while the wheel keeps spinning and its causing major damage. Any ideas? Thanks.
