ML320 Rear Suspension
Hello all,
For my '98 ML320, during the recent rear brake service
(replaced rear rotors and pads), I've noticed there is
a play when I hold the tire on both sides (left and right)
and rock it. Drivers side wheel is the worse. Also, when
I hold the tire top and bottom, there is some play.
One of my friend (mechanic) said that I need lower ball
joints and upper control arms. He is NOT a Mercedes-Benz
mechanic. I looked up in the MB service manual;
the manual simply says
- replace upper wishbone (if grease leaking out)
- replace supporting joint on wheel carrier (if grease leaking).
My question:
Is the mechanic correct in his diagnosis (ball joints and upper
control arms).
Is "Upper Wishbone" same as "Upper Control arm"?
Is "supporting joint" same as "Lower ball joint"?
Last question, besides the MB dealer, are the above mentioned
parts available (on-line??) anywhere else?
I would appreciate your comments/suggestions.
Thanks in advance
Phanendra
