Ignition Coil Replacement

Does anyone have instructions on the replacement of an ignition coil?

I had one go out 1,000 miles or so ago, had it replaced and replaced all the original spark plugs at the dealer. The rough idle and inconsistent power/ no power has returned and want to replace the ignition coil myself.

Also, if someone could provide me the part number for the coil itself i would appreciate it- and as a comparison can someone who is mechanically inclined tell me what the difference is between the two coils being sold by autohausaz.com?

Bosch - Ignition Coil 00107 - $53.63
Meyle - Ignition Coil 0001587803MY - $61.99

many thanks in advance

Your wasting your time and money. OEM coils last forever. Start looking in other areas.

Do you have any other suggestions to what it may be?

Like I said, I had this happen prior and one of the coils had to be replaced and went ahead and did the spark plugs with it and it solved my issue. If i am not mistaken, i was warned that another coil was not in great shape (original spark plugs were replaced at 130k miles).

I was told that the poor spark was causing the issue in the coil

My point is that I don't take much stock in comments like--"looks in good shape." I go by actual values resulting from tests and it looks like you don't have the test equipment to answer your questions, therefore I think you are wasting your money!!

My suggestion is work with folks that can provide the actual value to make their decision rather that what the girlfriend may make a comment on!!

That is why these misfire issues without faults are not easy to diagnose and get labor intensive, therefore expensive, and issue that most older benz owners think they are getting screwed when presented with a bill and the problem has not resolved itself.

I don't know about values but Bosch is OEM. I replaced my wires with Bosch and one coil pack with Bosch on my W211 E320. I also replaced the plugs with Bosch. Did all the work myself and she is as good as new. I will do the same with my with my W163 ML500 when the time comes. I ordered the plugs and wires from Amazon and the coil pack from Parts Geek. Hope this helps.
