Good (original) radio code quit working

This is a thread for folks who know their radio security code is good and valid. They've used it several times successfully but now it no longer works. There must be a way to either reset the code or force the "code good" signal to fix the problem. First question: Who owns the code? The ECM or the radio (MCS). The fact that the code is tied to the VIN leads me to believe the ECM is the owner. However, if you install a new (or used) radio with a good code; it works. Which seems to indicate that the code is owned by the radio and the link between the radio code and S/N and the VIN is strictly via the manufacturer. I believe the latter is true, so there must be a "code good" signal somewhere in the MCS (radio) that could be forced true. Does anyone know where that signal is best accessed? If it is present on a connector that would be ideal.

There is no error code. Enter the correct code and press OK - the blanks re-appear, as if you entered the wrong code. Do this three times and you're in the wait mode.
