2000 ML 430, tranny won't shift out of park. Read the blog, replaced the brake light switch and installed a new battery. Brake lights still don't work and switch tests good. I know that the console got wet when my fiance' left the sunroof open in a light rain. Any ideas? Thanks guys!

Did you check fuse #15 to see if it is blown?
If it is not, turn the key to pos. #2 and have someone step on the brake pedal while you check for 12v at both contacts on the top of the fuse.
