Back to ML500

I used to own two ML320. 1998 and 2000. Both were full of problems so I cross to BMW X5.

I would like to come back and get a new ML500, but I would want some feedback please.

Did MB improved these cars? Do they still rattle and do they still have the problems with the gas gauge (showing empty when it is not)?

Thank you for your input.

My ML500 is greatly improved over the 98 as so far as rattles and creaks. It also has many more nice features some of which were a problem but dealer corrected them easily. Its a greatly improved vehicle

ML 500 Sport
I am very happy with my 2002 ML 500...no problems so far...everything works fine...NYC streets are very rugged...so far the ML is quieter (less rattles) than my German built CLK 55.
The only thing I wish it had was the multifunction steering wheel. Get the Sport Package!

I'm 3 weeks into a 02 ML 500 and so far very good. Very well made, definitely better than the earlier models, and cross fingers no problems yet.

The sport package is cool looking, but at over $3k its purely cosmetics and you can't put any grills on it. If there's one thing I definitely miss it is the parktronic, but that requires wait. The bi-xenons would have been good, kinda like the ML55 look, but I don't miss them that much. Performance-wise this is a solid car that manuevers very quickly and easily, and has noticeably less roll than typical american SUVs. Great ride.

If space is not an issue, try the X5, definitely tighter sportier ride, wouldn't necessarily say it's an overall better car. My wife found the X5 ride to be too jumpy on the passenger, but not on the driver.

give it a try,

Thank you for your answers. That is what I have right now an X5 3.0. I did not have problems with it except for the endless recalls and dealers who do not offer loaners.

I want a more powerfull engine and more room.

I am looking at the ML and the Lexus.
