My wife just called me from her ML....It's a nice evening here in the Washington DC metro area. She decided to open the moonroof/sunroof. Guess what? It won't close now. Any suggestions as to the problem?
Thanks.

also check the weather striping that goes along the back edge of the sun shade. it jammed into the sunshade and prevented closure until I just pulled it out and re-inserted it back to where it belonged.
ALSO what about the grease that comes off on the outside of the sunroof can this be fixed?
thx

Actually when she got home, the sunroofroof was 3/4 closed and would not go past that point. It would back up and return, but go no further than 3/4 closed. I used the manual crank but it was still jammed so I had to force it, and it sounded like something that look liked a long black bracket that runs the width of the glass in the front "broke free". It didn't sound good, but the sunroof finally closed. It was very hard to see as it was dark out. I hope there was no permanent damage.....nice

There's only four bolts holding the glass in, behind the rubber accordion pieces. Make sure you make scribe marks around the bolt heads before taking them out, or else you'll spend days readjusting it.
