rear wheels lock after hearing a strange noise

I have a ML350/2004 and after hearing a very strange noise , I thought that might be the wheelbearing, so I separated the hub from the cv joint and checked the wheel bearing, which felt ok and I put it back in place, but both rear wheels are still locked by the brake system, any body know how to solve this problem? tnx

Check the emergency brake cables, brake hold down pins, and sometimes the friction material falls off the E-brake shoes and locks the rear brakes. they are inside the rear rotors.

Totally agree with Kustom. Remove the caliper and rotor on both sides.

Hi, thanks for your reply, in my case the rear wheels were locked by the disc pads, I had to lubricate the rotors with oil so I could drive home, it was not far away from home, once more thank you, have a good day.
