How to tell which rim size I have?
I bought my 2003 ML500 second hand a few years ago. Yesterday I have a screw driver puncture one of my tires and so I'm tire shopping. One thing that's a little perplexing though. I have Nexen 265/60/R17 tires. But, when I go to the tire shop websites they say the original stock tire was a 275/50/R17.
After looking around, I've seen mentioned that there were two different rim options for this vehicle. How do I tell which rim I have? There doesn't seem to be any markings on the outwards facing surface of the rims (the bad one is at home so I can't look at the inside right now).
Is there that much of a difference between the two sizes I mentioned that I wouldn't be able to switch to the original size tires if that's what is available?
Also, is it OK to run two different sized tires (one size up front, with a different size in back)? I hadn't planned on buying tires, and the two front tires might have several months life still in them.
This is the first time I've had to buy any rubber for the M-Class, and it's a bit of sticker shock to see what things cost.
Thanks!
Robert

try to stay same diameter as oem. Unless oem came with 2 different sizes for front and rear, do not mix the sizes.
