Transmission with a side of alternator please...
Thought I'd let you all know what happened to my ML55. I have 88k with an extended Daimler Chrysler warranty up to 100k. I took it in last week because it was shifting rough and felt like something was loose in the front end, thought maybe the differential.
Anyway, my SA ran diagnostics and said the tranny is wearing and should most likely be replaced. He suggested a MB rebuild which has a 2 year, 24k warranty from MB versus a new tranny with only 1 year, 12k warranty. He called DC, who sent an adjuster out to test drive and look over the diagnostics.
When they started it up for the first time that day, the adjuster pointed out that it sounds like the bearing in the alternator was going, and that it should be inspected as well. Daimler Chrysler is replacing the tranny with a rebuilt one, and the alternator.
Highest praise to DC and their extended warranty. I've said it before, and will say it again, when you near your factory warranty expiration, look into a Daimler Chrysler extended warranty!!!!!
