02 ml320 wacky headlight issue.

My low beams work fine. When I turn on high beams, instead of turning on the high beams, it actually pumps extra juice through the low beams. However, when a low beam burns out, the high beam for that particular side will commence to work. I talked to mb service tech and he pretty much told me "good luck. bye". If anyone can help me out with some ideas, I would be forever grateful.

My opinion would be that there is something wrong with the Combination Sw. on the steering column.

Understand that my suggestion is based on the fact that there are no aftermarket by-passes installed in the lighting system.
