Hid lights up out if housing but not when installed in housing
First hello, been long time lurker but never posted
Had to replace a hid bulb on my 2004 ml500.
install was easy, could hear the igniter trying....no light....messed around a bit and when I tried to light the build outside the housing to make sure it was good....it light up fine.
when you put and ignighted bulb in the headlight it shuts off, when you pull it out lights up just fine.
have installed 2 bulbs one Phillip's from the drivers side and one aftermarket.....
have had it hooked up to the computer and cleared all faults etc
Any ideas appreciated....lurked for a long time but never signed up

What side has the bulb blown on, driver's or passenger?
High beam or low beam?
Why are you using two different bulbs, which is a no no?
Which bulb is not working properly, the Phillips or aftermarket?
Have you swapped the problem bulb from one side to the other to see if the problem still occurs?

Passenger side is one that blew out.
bought aftermarket bulbs....
have swapped bulbs out side to side.....Phillip's orig and aftermarket all fire up fine outside of housing

it's as if there is a grounding issue but.....
inside the bulb cover it says please read owners manual before changing bulbs....
but I only have those flip books no actual manual.

Sorry hit reply too fast, should have said when I looked it up in the manual just days, his is high voltage let professional change it....sooo.....
technically have brought too my shop and they cant figure it out
