4 wheel alignment

4 wheel alignment
I am about to put 4 new tires on the wife's ML 430. Do you guys always do a 4 wheel alignment when getting new tires installed? Normally, I might consider it but both the dealer and the local high end MB, BMW, Porsche, Audi shop want like $100 for this and that seems way too high. Do I really even need it?

On the 98 I had and my present ML500 I have never had or required an alignment. If you have experienced no tracking problems or uneven tire wear you do not need it. Just be certain that the tires are correctly balanced with a newer computer equipment

I am about to get in the same boat..
AT 74K miles, my 00 320 needs its third set of tires pretty soon...the first set I went thru, I had uneven wear...so, when I got them replaced I had the wheels aligned..
With the second set, I was very punctual about the rotation and every 2 months checked the wear pattern to make sure it was not getting uneven...also checked the air pressure at least once every six months or so...
I not only got about 7-10K miles more from the tires the second time, but also have a near even wear pattern on all 4.
I won't be aligning them this time around when I replace them.

Yep I got it done at the dealership...and it was $96 for all wheels front & rear...
I don't even think any other shop can align MBs...I tired a couple, but they all said they didn't have the equipment to align this truck...

I went to an alignment specialty shop to have mine done and a good shop will charge about $75, $100 if it's lowered.
$300 is RIDICULOUS. I hope you didn't grab your ankles on that one.
