ML 350/04 - Loose Steering / Part II

The following comment was posted ~ a month ago, however I'm still experiencing issues associated with my "loose steering” Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I recently purchased a 04 ML 350 with the "performance tires" (sorry, the wife has the car out shopping or I would elaborate) and I have noticed that the steering wheel moves left to right when I encounter the slightest road bump.

When I took the car in to the dealer, I was given a "loaner" that just happen to be a 04 ML 350. I'm almost positive the tires were not the same "wide" flavor similar to the ones on my ML. Well as you probably guessed, no loose steering. Actually, the steering was similar to my 00 Explorer - tight, no right/left movement over bumps.

I the issue the tires or ???????????????????

Thanks!!!

Have them check the column. I had mine replaced at 14K with a similar issue. Now it tracks fine. I have 275's on my truck too.

It could also be the steering dampner???? Had that on my old Landrover Defender.
