Never really thougth about it. Think it depends if you are still rolling forward slightly or at a complete stop. No doubt MB will say it is a safety feature!!!!!

if you are rolling it wont engage it to prevent excessive transmission wear.

Angry ML320 hesitating badly

My ML320 has developed a very significant hesitation problem. The occurs even after the car is totally warmed up. It happens about 80% of the time when trying to move from a full stop. It is even more noticeable when switching into drive after backing up.

The dealer just looked at it and gave me the old "the onboard computer says there is nothing wrong" excuse.

It is not just a brief hesitation. I press the accelerator and the car literaly just sits there for a full 2 or 3 seconds as if trying to figure out what to do.
