Dome/courtesy lights not operating

Greetings! I have a 2000 ML320/w163 that the front dome lights and bottom of front door lights (courtesy) do not come on when either front door is opened. The rear dome and courtesy lights work fine with both rear doors. I have checked all the fuses, no issues there. Front dome lights turn on/off manually. Is there a sensor or button on the front door that I am missing? A relay? Just one of those fiddly things you want to get fixed. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Does this problem occur when you open the front passenger door?

Thanks for the response. Yes, it does not matter which door you open...the lights do not come on when either front door is opened. Rears work just fine. Odd!?

Fuse #13 controls the interior lighting. but since the rear lighting is working, it cannot be the fuse. Nor can it be both front door switches.

Below are PDFs, one for diagnostic tree and the other is my selection of what is the problem at hand. In my opinion it is probably the AAM which is not sending a signal to turn on the lights.
