gear change

2004 ml270cdi auto transmission won't change back on hills. kick down has stopped working. any ideas

2002 ML 320 & 2006 ML500

First do a fluid and filter change. Two weeks later just do a fluid change.

Thank you, I will give that a try. I have only had the ML for 10000 kms so have done the engine service twice [did one when I first got it just to be sure]. I am a retired diesel mechanic and had a 240d. then a300d 5cyl. then to a 300d 6cyl. I had avoided the next step into cdi injection and computers as all this was coming in as I was getting out , also most of my work was on Caterpillar,Perkins and the like as well as mercedes trucks.I had read that transmission services had to be done by the dealers, is that just to scare us old blokes off ? thanks.
