strange radio problem

i had the battery changed in my '99 ML 320 today. everything is
fine except for the radio. it will not turn off unless i manually turn it
off by pressing the volume knob. if i remove the keys and and
shut the door behind me it keeps playing. i know it's normal for
the radio to continue playing after the key was been removed but
before you open the door. normally the radio will shut off after any
door is opened. anyone have an idea how to fix this??? thanks,
jason

Where did you have the battery replaced? There are a bunch of things that can require reprogramming after a dead battery or battery removal, this is why it is recommended that the battery not be disconnected unless absolutely necessary. When changing at the dealership, they will often hook an auxliary power source to the vehicle so that when the battery is removed, all the programming will be retained.

I dont think it is a codeing problem I think you have a blown fuse. The radio gets power from clamp 15 and clamp 30. Clamp 15 goes to it when the ignition is turned on and clamp 30 is always going to it. If you blow the clamp 15 fuse then you will have to turn the radio off manually. I dont remember which fuse it is but I am pretty sure it is in the main ebox under the hood. Just check them all with a meter. Autogunner.

One of my friends' mom's has a 98 with the old Bose (without the MCS) and it does the same thing, it turned out to be a fuse.

On my dad's w210 it meant that the car's battery had been disconnected for a while. The radio then thinks it has been removed from the car. The dealer can look up the radio code & "re-code" it. They press in 4 numbers & its good to go.
