First long ML500 Trip

Just completed a 1725 mile trip over a 5 day period in my ML500. I was concerned about using this vehicle due to all of the problems I have encountered but it did behave itself. Driving was about 50/50 interstates and back roads, some flat some mountainous. I averaged according to the trip comouter 20.7 MPG and by my own manual calculations 20.6 MPG. Speeds on the interstates averaged 70 to 80 with occassional bursts to 90. On the back roads 50 to 60. All in all I was pleased with the performance and comfort afforded by the ML500. Only problem was the continued one touch window problem.

That's one good thing about the ML, they're great long-haulers. I have heard occurances of ML's stalling on the 15 freeway between Baker, California and Las Vegas, Nevada. Apparently there are high-energy power transformers somewhere along that stretch of road that interferes with the AAM module in the ML. It took a while to figure out, but we noticed a pattern when people started bringing their ML in and saying "Yeah, I was coming back from Vegas when all of a sudden it just stalled for no reason." After about 5 or 6 of these complaints, all involving Las Vegas, came through, it caught our attention. Finally the factory figured out it was because of the power transformers on that particular stretch of freeway. Weird, huh?

Yea, that is wierd. Guess that there is no or not enough shielding for the computer. They should take a lesson from the aircraft industry that shields almost any electronic component installed. There is lots of RF potential interference in aircraft with radar, VHF, HF and UHF transmitters and of course all the external potential interference. Any idea if that situation was corrected??
