Stalling.... have fault codes...
Hi everyone,
I have a 1999 ML320 W163 with 260,000km on the clock. It's developed a habit of stalling unexpectedly, usually at idle revs or when slowing down. the car always starts again after a few seconds.
I've replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor (with Bosch part), but no change.
yesterday I had a guy plug in a tester (one of the big jobs that came in a suitcase and had a printed off report) and we got a heap of codes, which he cleared then we ran the car again and got the following codes....
B1040 ... CAN,,, communication fault to engine control module
B1041.... CAN... communication fault to traction systems control
B1042.... CAN... communication fault to brake assist control module
B1089....CAN.... communication fault to transfer case control module
B1086... I 4, 1, 10, 861 please refer to relevant technical manual
The cleared codes that didn't reappear were largely sparodic CAN communication issues...
041, 065, 097, 116, 132, 133, 134, 135, 136, 137
c1020, c1022, c1024, c1032, c1030
Any ideas what is going on here?

Thanks Khomer2.
After reading everything I could find, I’m going to have a go at locating a fuse panel and swapping it out... seems like this has been a fix for many CAN bus issues

Fuse Panel....no. 1 suspect culprit...
Just went through this on my 2000 ML320....random stalls with B codes, C codes and P codes....almost everything shutting down/malfunctioning at random internvals...
