no cables?

Everything points to the Brake Light Switch being bad but... when checked...there is none! no Brake Light Switch and no cables that would attach to it if it were there! ML500 2004, w163. also no lights on the dash ie ABS lights. what am I missing?

As of model year 2003, there is no brake light switch. The activation of the brake lights has now been moved to the brake booster and there is no repair for it.

What is your problem and or what is your question?

ABS replacement done

My brakes went out on my 2004, ML500 w163, V8 at 228k miles. All the lights came on ABS ( BAS/ESP, ETS ABS AND BRAKE). Being high mileage I changed the brake booster, Master cylinder and the ABS mod. All the lights for ABS are off now but now will not shift into gear!

Do you mean that you cannot shift it out of park?

That is it! My brakes are still not responding with pressure as the pedal still goes to the floor but I think now I might just need to bleed the system.

Of course you must bleed the system.
