Steering wheel adjustment not locked indicator
The Steering wheel adjustment not locked indicator was on and would not start. Third attempt indicator was off and car started. After driving car for about 25 miles car quit and could not be restarted. Attempts to start next and subsequent days were successful. Dealer found no error codes. This is an 1999 ML320 with 75,354 miles. Would any one have an idea as to the cause/fix?

You must replace the lock switch in the steering column, part #163 545 03 14.
There are no instructions for removal and installation. Remove the steering column covers and locate the two wire switch
