ML/w163 PS Pump reservoir help.

2000 ML55
Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get the PS pump reservoir to seat fully on the PS pump?
I cannot manage to get the plastic reservoir flange/female receiver portion (located at the bottom rear of the reservoir) to sit fully flush on the metal male receiver of the pump.
You can see the gap in the attached image. (this is looking from the top down while standing at the front of the car)
Isn't it supposed to be fully flush against the metal???

I totally figured it out. I can't believe it was such a simple trick.

AND you also should be explaining your self-proclaimed success and procedure so other members may find and read this short thread one day and then understand "how-to"
to replace / re-fit a replacement ps reservoir...

1) make sure the o-ring is seated correctly into the reservoir plastic tube at the bottom side,

2) align and position correctly the ps reservoir the same way you removed it,

3) push and wiggle firmly the ps reservoir back into its original place AND

4) make sure the ps reservoir snaps into place and flush until there is no gap AND

5) lastly, re-insert the C-clip back into it's place (at the bottom) and reconnect the ps hose to the reservoir.

Actually it was the notch on the block that the reservoir slides onto. After the years of neglect, grime had built up in there and when the new reservoir was put on it just pushed all that loose stuff and formed a blockage. Even though I had detailed the motor prior to servicing it, its one of those areas you just can't get to when its assembled.

Cleaned it out and the entire front of the block since I was there. Everything fit together super easy.

A couple more little motor items to deal with and then I can start in on some upgrades.
