questions on 2000 ML430
hey guyz,
i got some questions about my 2000 ml430.
- anyone recommend what type of solution i could use to remove the rust from our chrome side bar runners? i find the side bar runners get dirty quickly and rust mad!
- anyone know if it is possible to flash my MCS to the latest firmware for stock 5-speaker Bose setup? i find that when changing CD tracks, both our friend's 2001 ML320 change tracks a lot faster than mine. also if possible, make it so that the MCS can play MP3 CDs?
- would getting the www.nav-tv.com modified MCS unit void my extended warranty and is it a great product?
- is there a way to permanently have the odometre show just the trip odometre, not the full odometre showing how much the car has been driven since the day it was born?
i hope all these questions can be answered...

we also have rust on our chrome side runners and chrome brush grille!
I haven't found a good way to get the rust off, i think once its there, its there. Wax it good to prevent any more from showing up is the best solution i can think of for trying to keep the rust down.

How heavy is the rust on the chrome? I have had good luck getting light rust off with chrome polish. If it has gotten to the point that it is pitted nothing will work. If it is heavy but not flaking off yet 0000 steel wool will get it off but it may dull the finish to a satin so I would be careful and test in an unvisable area first.

poor you cdawgc220. i hoping jfinch's method will work. ugh. those lil spots of rust bugs me! plus there is spots where u can't even reach, where it gets bolted to the underbody.
alboston, i'm using the cd changer. i am sooo tempted to just take out the cd changer, sell it, and get a single in-dash cd player behind the LCD instead. is that possible?
i wonder if there is another product other than www.nav-tv.com's where u can use a modified in-dash DVD player and play whatever is inside on the LCD.
