Tempernature Sensor head broke off

While trying to change my temperature coolant sensor, the head of it broke off and the rest of the part is flush in the engine. Any ideas on how to remove?

There is a C clip that holds the sensor in place. Did you remove it?

Yes the c-clamp was removed. The old sensor crumbled in my hand as I grabbed it.

Can you post a close-up photo of the broken sensor.
