Rear seat stuck folded down (ML350 W163)

I bought a second hand ML350 recently where the lever (part A1639200364) for the rear left (passenger) seat did not pull the catch that would allow the seat to slide forward/go lower. The workaround was to put my hand under the seat and engage the catch which would have otherwise been pulled by the cable.

Now clever me decided to lower the seat to transport some flat-packed furniture and didn't think how I would raise the seat back up! Is there any clever way to pull the latch or will the entire seat need removal? If the latter, would it be a mechanic level job or can I DIY?

Video describing the issue:

You can do it yourself with a complete set of male and female sockets.

This is amazing, thank you! Where can I find more guides like this?

The seats needed to be not lowered for this to work, so I managed to fix the issue by following this method (which I found when looking for a video example of the instructions you sent):

i recently unbolted the passenger rear seat this last weekend because the previous owner left me with a filthy interior, the whole interior was dirty with crud and broken glass in crevices, food wrappers, insulin needles, used condom wrappers ( no actual condoms, thank god!) and even a large fast food cup under the bolted seat frame that was an eye sore. anywho, i unbolted the seat disconnected the one wire that does idk, and proceeded to cleaning the gunk off the side of the seats and vacuum the floor. when it was time to put the seat back i found that the passenger seat needed to come off first because the left side is so heavy that the frame needed to tuck under the right seat frame. i scrapped the left side door jam plastic trying meerly just set the seat on the three recessed bolts and now the seat is damaged because it has that problem. it was stuck in the up position, i used the pole, now its stuck in the down position. ill have to get the seat off, fix it and then get a helper to help me fasten it down to align it for the bolts and nuts. ill worry about it later! dont got time to mess with that right now.
