P0455 Not gas cap, what else can I check before smoke machine?
Hi all,
2004 ML350 4JGAB57E64A497435 is the VIN.
Last week I got the P0455 (evap large leak) code, so I searched and saw that the gas cap is a common fix.
I replaced it with an aftermarket and the code came back yesterday. I whipped out my scanner and found the following codes.
P2013-2 Major leak in purge system. Hose in system not connected or filler cap open.
Where can I check before paying the indy to use the smoke machine?

A DIY smoke machine is a must for any of these older MBs. Will cost you no more than $15-20 and 15 min of your time to build one.

I looked around online, and most of them require an air compressor which I dont have. I called my local indy and they wanted $210 for the smoke test.
Seems expensive to me. Do chain shops (Midas, Meineke) have smoke machines?
