32" tires?

Hi all.

Previous owner of my 2004 ML350 has some oddly sized tires and I'm looking to get some bigger ones on it.

I found a pretty good deal on a set of 255/75/17s, which are 32.1 in tires.

Will they fit on a stock suspension setup without rubbing?

Thanks

The original tire sizes are 255/60-R17 @ 29.1" diameter and 275/55-R17 @ 28.7" diameter. Replacing 29" tires with 32" tires will cause a speedometer error of about 10%. Tires size is an entry in the engineering menu on some MBs, but I don't have the ML any more to check this.
I found this quote online at tires.com:

255/75-R17 is not listed as a candidate. I would be very cautious about venturing outside of MB recommendations.
There's lots of room in those wheel wells, so the 32" tires may fit. However, they may look ok when the SUV is not in motion but contact frame, suspension, or fender edges during hard cornering or traversing bumps at speed. I suggest consulting a local tire installer for their advice. Most of them have a chart of what tires sizes can and cannot be used and whether wheels with different offsets can correct the problem.

I think 32" tyres are the limit but may well cause some rubbing on full lock. You might have to tighten up your torsion bars to alleviate this, which will give you a stiffer ride. You shouldn't rub on the rear. You need a lift to fit 33" tyres, but lifting an ML makes for terrible handling.... I'm planning on fitting 31" tyres when my current standard sized BFG KO's wear out soon (they are 10 years old). I was going to put BFG KO2 265/75/16's on which other people have no problems with, except on full lock.
