Can’t pass inspection

Most of you guys can probably fix my car in a few hours, but I’m going on 2 years with a failed inspection sticker because of this stinky code p0446. EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM VENT CONTROL CIRCUIT.
Im no mechanic but I’m not afraid to do small things to save $1,000.
My wife purchased a 2004 Mercedes ml350. Back in 2005 with 19,000 miles on it. She doesn’t work far from home, so after 16 years we just reached 80,000 miles. The car looks and drives beautiful.
After doing some research I’ve changed the gas cap. I’ve changed the vapor canister purge solenoid. Now I was hoping it wouldn’t come to this but I’m ready to remove the rear passenger side tire, rip the lining down and just look around to see if I’m capable of changing the charcoal canister that I’ve been reading about.
biggest issue is where to get a new or used one. Can’t find one anywhere.
Someone please point me in the right direction

thanks……JDee

This place is a joke.
You have a 163 chassis, this is the 164 forum. However, I can tell you that "back in the days" your model had problems with the shutoff valve, which is a white plastic barrel connected to a black plastic hose, which is located behind the corner of the rear bumper. Last I heard, that part was no longer available.

Thanks E55Greasemonkey

Thanks E55Greasemonkey for the answer and thanks for attaching that link. I will read up on that and try to find the part.
it’s and old car but has sentimental value.
