Hood release issue
2002 ml320. Having issues with the hood operating. The handle release has always been really tight and upon release it released violently. Now its come to not popping the hood at all. I can get it open (while pressing down on the hood) while someone pulls the lever even though its seems to have lost tension. I manage to get it open and i close the latch (as if the hood was shut) and pull the lever inside the cabin and it opens the latch, but when the hood is closed and i pull the latch the best way i can describe it is that it almost feels like it falls off track ( i know theres no track and its a cable, its just how i can describe it) maybe the ball at the end of it passes where its supposed to stop? If this makes any sense. So the handle works and opens the latch when the hood is open, but when its closed it wont. Any ideas? Thanks

In all probability the hood lock is dry and needs lubrication.
While the hood is open, liberally spray WD40 on the lock & then manually move it to the lock position. Then use the cable release handle to unlock position.
Do this numerous times until it works properly.

Why didn't you say that you already lubed the lock? You would have saved me time and effort.
Here are the procedures to adjust the cable.

sorry about not mentioning that. I figured it was a given that someone with this issue would lubricate the latch lol. Thanks for the pdf's!!! Ill give it a shot. 🙏🏼
