My rear tires are completely worn. My mechanic said he doesn't think they make the Michelin Premier LTX's or they are extremely hard to find right now with the supply chain issues and everything going on. Is this true? He ordered some Kuomo's. I'm not sure if the specs are going to be the recommended ones by MB and if not, if that would have any repercussions on the handling/safety of the vehicle?

I was in your position just a few months ago. Big 10 showed one Michelin tire in the whole country. Settled for Michelin LTS 245/65-17 for my 500. Odo is very close to correct, and as a truck, I haven't missed the extra tread width... I have an SL500 if I want to do curves...

Edit: I am presuming OP was wanting the Michelin 275/55-17 as originally fitted.

Michelin Premier LTX 275/55-R17 is listed as available in 5 days at Discount Tire. There are 3-4 other brands. We used the Hankook tire once, but it’s profile makes it look a bit different on the car than the Michelin and Dunlop tires did.

Your information is correct. I've been trying to get the Michelin since September 2021 last year. Costco does not have them and neither does Tirerack currently. A few weeks back they were promising a March delivery. Chatted with Michelin and they confirmed that the production of the 275/55 is suspended and asked me to keep checking every 2 weeks. Costco shows as discontinued but that is not accurate. Current production for this size is suspended.
