Need opinions/advice on headlights
I'm looking for some opinions/advice on simplifying my headlighting system on my '03 ML500. I have the auto-leveling system, with the Bi-Xenon HIDs. I love the HIDs, but I can live w/o the rest. Here's why: My combo switch assembly seems to be bad, as the high beams are always on (unless I hold the stalk at just the right position). I plan to replace that soon. However, the levelers inside the housings are broken, as well as the front control arm bracket. I could care less about the auto-leveling feature. I'm fine with manually adjusting them and "keep it moving". Another issue I have is that I can't figure out what the other bulbs are for (pic attached). DRLs would be the only thing that makes sense to me, but I can't get them to turn on. Can someone shed some light on this (no pun intended)
.I've thought about the possibility of buying new headlight housings. I like the clear housings with the LED DRL strips. That would give me an updated look, with new, adjustable housings, as well as the ability to completely delete the auto-leveling system, but then I would lose my HIDs, as the bulbs are different and I'm guessing the ballasts would have to be mounted in a less than ideal way.
I'm open to all opinions/suggestions - and if someone can clear up the OE purpose/functionality of the bulbs in the picture, I would appreciate it.
Thanks so much!!
