What? New brake pads at 25K Front and Rear
To ML320 2000 owners,
At Service B, my service dept diagnosed my ML320 2000 with 25K miles needing replacement for all pads front and rear, including replacement of all rotors. This is somewhat abnormal since the truck was perfectly normal; just needed to get it in for the B service light being on.
Anybody have this similar experience.
Thanks,
Alex

Not unusual for V8's, but odd that an ML320...
is suffering from the premature pad / rotor wear normally associated with V8's.
Other ML320 owners have managed 40-50,000 miles on pads and rotors - so unless you've been driving very hard I'm surprised they need replacing. Might be worth checking yourself in case your dealer is 'creating' work.....
FYI V8's quite often suffer from worn out pads at circa 20,000 miles and quite often worn out rotors also !!

The 98 ML320 I had went 40000 before front pads. When I traded it at 45000 it still had all original rotors and rear pads which had over 30% remaining. My 02 ML 500 had all pads and rotors changed at 4000 miles due to severe squeal. Believe some dealers try to sell rotors, ask them to mike them in front of you and be prepared and have the min limits with you.

Thanks to those who replied.
It's done. I think they got me for $850 all pads and all rotors. I just have this feeling that there was another 10K miles left on them since the warning lights didn't really come on yet and no squeking noise. My wife drives this truck conservatively. It's unfortunate that you can't trust anybody nowadays.
When I had my old Maxima for a 120K tune-up, the service dept diagnosed that the exhaust pipe was rusted and could fall any moment. I had gone underneath the car to perform my own inspection prior to the tuneup. I declined the replacement and it's been 1.5 years now since that tune-up and the original pipe is still in place.

We can save you alot of money if you want to tackle the job yourself. We can also supply some excellent pads that will last longer and keep the wheels cleaner.
